Glass Sculpture by Noel hart
:
The inspiration for Noel Hart’s Parrotism series derives from his love of nature, and his fascination with parrots and their plumage. The subject of birds and their habitat has reappeared and disappeared in Noel’s work for over 20 years, both quite figuratively and completely lost to abstraction in paintings and works in glass. The bird theme has expanded into secondary narratives including conservation and deep ecology.
Noel says “Living where I do, on a property with sub-tropical rainforest adjacent to national parks in Northern New South Wales, I'm fortunate to have a continuous experience with biodiversity, a relationship I constantly refer to in my artwork”.
The swirling colours and dynamic shapes in Noel’s glass sculptures sometimes reveal the distinctly parrot-like features of beaks and feather patterns, while in other pieces the parrot is simply alluded to by an abstract but intentionally placed flourish of colour and movement.
In addition to his extraordinary blown glass works, Noel also paints and creates mixed media sculptures. Noel’s artworks are regularly exhibited in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia.
